Job summary

CarMax is seeking a Director in Compliance Services in Kennesaw, GA to lead a multi-team effort across federal and state regulatory compliance, policies, and risk management. You will partner with Legal and business leaders to mature the program and drive responsible risk-taking aligned with the company’s strategy.

The role emphasizes culture, strategy development, and enterprise partnerships, delivering efficient compliance while safeguarding CarMax’s reputation and supporting growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in professional leadership experience.
• 10+ years of supervisory/management experience.
• Ability to lead multiple teams across several projects and priorities, including through major changes.
• Courageous leadership and comfort with senior executives; ability to influence across all levels.
• Strong analysis and decision-making skills in new or unclear situations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and relationship-building skills.
• Advanced proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and manage a risk & compliance team, including hiring, performance reviews, and development plans.
• Partner with Legal and cross-functional leaders to align on regulatory requirements and risk.
• Set strategic direction and oversee team execution and reporting.
• Produce reporting on activities, objectives, issues, remediation, and risk escalation to leadership and the board.
• Foster a customer-service oriented culture that delivers value to business partners and Compliance Services.
