Job summary

Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council Inc. seeks an Assistant Planner to support planning activities and secure funding for tribal community development.

Reporting to the Planning & Development Director, you will assist with program development, data gathering, and coordination across housing, health, and economic development initiatives. You will engage with diverse partners, attend trainings, and help prepare strategic plans and proposals.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor’s degree in planning, Public Administration, or related field; five years planning experience; AICP desirable.
• Experience with Native American Tribal organizations and/or not-for-profit agencies desirable.
• Proven verbal and written communication skills; professional demeanor and appearance.

Responsibilities

• Engage in networking to stay current on services available to Native Americans.
• Ensure services are delivered in a culturally sensitive manner.
• Attend meetings, conferences, and training sessions as scheduled.
• Assist with planning meetings and community gatherings.
• Gather, manage, and interpret data as part of planning processes.
• Support project design to meet GLITC strategic priorities.
• Coordinate development activities for GLITC programs and partners.
• Communicate and outreach to encourage public involvement.
