Job summary

The City of Fairmont is seeking a Community and Economic Development Director to organize and direct all aspects of the City’s community development operations, including planning, zoning, and economic development. The role also oversees housing and redevelopment programs and supervises department staff.

The position offers a competitive salary range with comprehensive benefits and requires a bachelor’s degree with five years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Economic Development, Public Administration, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in planning, economic development, community development, housing, and/or redevelopment.
• Some supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Organize and direct the full range of the City’s community development operations related to planning and zoning.
• Lead economic development initiatives and residential/commercial ordinance administration.
• Oversee property maintenance codes and enforcement and lakes management planning.
• Supervise Community Development Department personnel.
