Job summary

The City of O'Fallon seeks a Director of Community Development to lead the Planning, Zoning and Development functions. You will collaborate with the City Administrator, manage staff, oversee economic development initiatives, and guide policy through the City Council.

The role requires a strong background in urban planning, at least five years in a managerial capacity, and a relevant degree. AICP certification is preferred and a commitment to public service is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, geography, architecture, or closely related field.
• Master’s degree in urban planning, public administration, or closely related field preferred;
• AICP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages and supervises departments to achieve goals within resources.
• Leads high-profile economic development projects and external consultant coordination.
• Develops short- and long-range departmental plans; analyzes data for studies and reports.
• Attends meetings to represent the City and present to Council.
• Coordinates committees and prepares agendas/minutes; supports policy development.
