Job summary

ERM is seeking a Principal Consultant, Strategic Communications and Stakeholder Engagement based in the Columbus, Ohio area. You will lead end-to-end programs, serve as a trusted client advisor, and drive cross-functional collaboration for integrated, results-focused solutions.

You will influence business growth through client development, marketing initiatives, and proposal leadership while championing equitable communications reflecting diverse stakeholder needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6–8+ years in public affairs, PR or communications (consulting/agency preferred).
• Experience managing projects, clients, budgets, and teams.
• Strong facilitation and presentation skills across diverse audiences.
• Expertise in stakeholder engagement, public consultations, and communications strategy.
• Excellent writing/editing skills; AP style preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end strategic communications and stakeholder engagement programs.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients and shape strategy on high-visibility projects.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration to deliver integrated solutions.
• Influence business growth through proposals, marketing, and client development.
• Design and implement public consultation programs (in-person and virtual).
• Oversee social risk assessments tied to capital projects and permitting efforts.
