Job summary

Weld County's Communications and Public Information Department seeks a Communications Specialist to manage communication projects across county departments, implement strategies, and measure outcomes. You will craft public information initiatives on multiple platforms and support the county's strategic goals.

Under the Public Information Officer, you will coordinate with division directors, respond to media inquiries, write press releases, and help shape the county's image during emergencies

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, mass communications, strategic communications, or related field.
• 2 years professional experience in media, communications, journalism, or public relations.
• 1 year experience copy editing; 1 year AP Style in a professional context.

Responsibilities

• Manage communication projects and campaigns across county departments.
• Serve as SME in JIC/JIS supporting EOC during emergencies.
• Write press releases and respond to media inquiries; monitor media coverage.
• Coordinate with departments, boards, and public engagement efforts.
