Job summary

Tarrant County is seeking a Senior Communications Manager to lead the External Affairs Department and provide strategic communications for County operations. The role may serve as the public information officer for non-elected and elected official departments.

You will supervise Communications and Graphic Design Specialists, develop media campaigns, and monitor campaign effectiveness to optimize engagement with employees, residents, and media.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, public relations, media and communications, digital marketing, or journalism required.
• Fifteen (15) years of experience with emphasis in public engagement and public relations, media, communication, and digital media technologies.
• Experience in content production and professional use of media is required.
• Experience with graphic design platforms like Adobe Creative Cloud, Photoshop, Premiere, InDesign, Illustrator, and integration with PowerPoint is required.

Responsibilities

• Develops media campaigns for the External Affairs Department to connect with targeted audiences.
• Builds viewer readership and engagement on all County media platforms.
• Stays on top of new trends and tools in media content production and implements as appropriate.
• Assists and substitutes for the Public Information Officer as needed.
• Implements Director-approved media strategies, coordinating with stakeholders across Tarrant County.
• Encourages adoption of media tactics to enhance County products and services.
• Advocates for Tarrant County in media spaces and engages with questions.
• Manages the preparation and development of presentations and graphic materials for County events and publications.
• Monitors benchmarks for media program effectiveness and reports on campaigns.
• Provides feedback from media monitoring to help evolve strategies.
• Educates County departments on media engagement and social media use as approved.
