Job summary

WSP Global Inc. is seeking a Strategic Communications and Outreach Specialist to support planning and execution of public involvement, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communications for utility, infrastructure, and environmental clients in Michigan and Indiana.

You will assist in developing client communication plans, write audience-centered materials, plan public meetings, and coordinate outreach events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or related experience in communications/PR/marketing.
• 3–5 years in strategic communications or public involvement.
• Strong writing/editing; translate technical info for broad audiences.
• Experience planning meetings/events/public outreach activities.
• Excellent organizational and project coordination skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Willingness to travel regionally and nationally.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook/Teams/SharePoint).

Responsibilities

• Assist with development and execution of client communication and public involvement plans.
• Write clear, audience-centered materials (letters, fact sheets, FAQs, website content, presentations, meeting materials, emails, stakeholder updates).
• Plan and coordinate public meetings, open houses, briefings, workshops, and outreach events.
• Manage event logistics (venues, staffing, materials, schedules, sign-in, comment collection, post-event documentation).
• Execute day-to-day project activities and maintain schedules, action lists, deliverables, and records.
• Manage public comments, inquiries, and stakeholder contacts per protocols.
• Maintain comment trackers, contact databases, response workflows, deadlines, and reporting documentation.
• Coordinate with project managers, technical teams, clients, vendors, and other staff.
• Support proposal development, scopes of work, staffing plans, and business development.
• Travel across Michigan and Indiana; support regional/national client assignments.
• Provide on-site support for public meetings, stakeholder briefings, field outreach, and engagement activities.
