Job summary

James Madison University is seeking a Communications and Marketing Specialist for the School of Media Arts and Design (SMAD). You will help develop advertising and outreach strategies targeting students, alumni and prospective students, while mentoring SMAD student workers.

You will work with the Director and Associate Director, coordinate campaigns with CAL and other offices, manage social media content and email communications, and assist in maintaining the SMAD website.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience in visual design and/or advertising/marketing.
• Experience in multimedia production.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to effectively mentor students.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate social media content and advertising campaigns.
• Create bulk email communications to specific audiences.
• Collaborate with CAL and other offices on coordinated campaigns.
• Cultivate alumni relations and write alumni profiles.
• Update and maintain the SMAD website.
• Coordinate alumni events and oversee electronic newsletters.
