Job summary

The Communications & Engagement Manager at Albemarle County Public Schools leads the Communications & Engagement Section, acting as a strategic communications advisor and department liaison. The role provides day-to-day leadership, coordinates with the CAPE Director, and guides editorial planning and countywide campaigns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree plus 5+ years in public relations, communications, and/or public engagement.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in public relations, communications, and/or public engagement.
• Supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and develops staff by establishing priorities, assigning work, managing workloads, and evaluating performance.
• Leads section operations and strategic planning with the Director.
• Serves as a communications strategist and department liaison for assigned departments, including planning and campaigns.
• Oversees countywide content across digital, print, web, video, podcast, social media, email, and other channels.
• Leads community engagement efforts including advisory committees and public input programs.
• Provides strategic guidance and training on communications, public engagement, branding, outreach, and related practices.
• Evaluates communications and engagement effectiveness using performance measures and analytics.
