Job summary

Amgen is seeking a Strategic Communications, Corporate Affairs Director for R&D & AI&D to lead a strategic communications capability within the Corporate Affairs teams.

You will partner across the organization to shape how one of the world’s leading biotechnology companies communicates the future of scientific discovery—where breakthrough biology, data science and artificial intelligence converge to accelerate medicines for patients.

Qualifications

• Doctorate degree and 4 years of comms or public relations experience.
• OR Master’s degree and 7 years of comms or public relations experience.
• OR Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of comms or public relations experience.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
• Significant experience leading strategic communications within biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, or technology.
• Strong understanding of scientific research, AI, and digital transformation.
• Exceptional writing, storytelling, and executive communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic communications within R&D and AI&D Corporate Affairs teams.
• Develop integrated communications strategies aligning with business priorities.
• Shape narratives translating complex science into clear stories for employees and external stakeholders.
• Drive change management and new ways of working within the organization.
• Establish governance, measurement frameworks, and dashboards to show impact.
• Build trusted partnerships and lead cross-functional initiatives in a matrixed org.
• Develop and mentor a high-performing team with a culture of collaboration and excellence.
