Job summary

Haven for Hope of Bexar County in San Antonio, TX seeks a Director of Communications to lead the organization’s external and internal communications efforts. You will manage media relations, branding, digital content, and stakeholder engagement while serving as a primary spokesperson.

The role requires a strategic, collaborative leader with a track record in nonprofit communications, crisis management, and community partnerships. This is an in-office, full-time position based in San Antonio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in communications and community relations.
• Experience managing media relations, advocacy campaigns, and crisis communications.
• APR accreditation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with the mission and strategic plan.
• Manage all media relations and ensure consistent messaging.
• Oversee branding, design, and digital content across platforms.
• Lead storytelling, reports, and campaigns that demonstrate impact and drive support.
• Serve as primary spokesperson and media contact when appropriate.
• Develop marketing plans and oversee materials and advertising.
• Oversee Haven's website content and cross-department content updates.
• Manage crisis communications and digital communications.
• Build partnerships with community organizations and coalitions.
• Collaborate with Development to align communications with fundraising.
• Provide presentations to the community and leadership.
• Provide strategic oversight of major Haven events.
