Job summary

Altec, a leading provider serving electric utility and related markets, seeks a Commodity Manager – Electrical Components to drive sourcing strategies and supplier partnerships in St. Joseph, MO.

The role partners with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality to ensure continuity of supply and cost improvements. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years in procurement or supply chain, with strong negotiation and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
• Six years of experience in procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, or related field.
• Strong supplier-management and negotiation experience.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for electrical/components, harnesses, controls, sensors, and related assemblies.
• Create, negotiate, implement, and manage short- and long-term commodity supply agreements.
• Develop and implement cost reduction strategies with measurable results.
• Research suppliers, market conditions, pricing, availability, and risks.
• Develop and maintain a supplier network supporting quality, delivery, technology, and cost objectives.
• Lead supplier qualification, development, and performance initiatives.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain teams.
• Monitor lead times, capacity, pricing, lifecycle, and availability.
• Drive year-over-year material cost improvements in assigned areas.
• Serve as escalation point for supplier-related quality, delivery, and service concerns.
• Support new product development through early supplier engagement.
