Job summary

PHOENIX CLOSURES, located in Illinois, is seeking a Senior Color Buyer to provide strategic sourcing and category leadership for color concentrates, masterbatch, pigments, and related additives used in plastic manufacturing. You will own supplier strategy, lead complex negotiations, and support cross-functional teams including Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Finance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain, chemistry, materials science, plastics engineering, or related field preferred.
• Seven+ years of progressive purchasing or category-management experience required.
• Must be able to lead complex negotiations and supplier development.

Responsibilities

• Lead sourcing and category management for color concentrates, masterbatch, pigments, and related additives.
• Develop category strategies to improve cost, quality, service, and supply resilience.
• Lead RFQs, supplier selections, negotiations, and long-term agreements.
• Create and validate pricing formulas tied to pigments, resins, energy, freight, and market indices.
• Monitor pigment markets, feedstock trends, supplier capacity, and regulatory changes.
• Conduct should-cost analyses, budgeting, forecasting, and cost-reduction projects.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and suppliers on color matching and plant trials.
• Establish supplier performance expectations and conduct business reviews.
