Job summary

Shriner's Children’s Hospital seeks a Collection Development Librarian to lead collection development and electronic resources in support of clinicians, researchers, and trainees. You will evaluate collections, manage licenses, and guide scholarly publishing strategies.

You will collaborate with research leadership and library colleagues to improve access, optimize tools, and align services with organizational priorities and user needs.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in ALA-accredited Library and Information Science or equivalent.
• 3+ years collection development, acquisitions, serials or electronic resources.
• 3+ years scholarly communications or research support services.
• 3+ years academic medical or research library environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead collection development for journals, databases, e-books, and clinical tools.
• Assess relevance, quality, utilization, and cost-effectiveness of resources.
• Manage vendor relationships, trials, pricing, and license evaluations.
• Monitor priorities to align resources with patient care and learning.
• Analyze usage data and cost-per-use for strategic decisions.
• Support access via discovery platforms, authentication, and proxy services.
• Provide guidance on scholarly publishing, open access, and copyright.
• Educate researchers and clinicians on research impact and dissemination.
