Job summary

ALIGN PRECISION in Maine is seeking a Master Planner / Scheduler to develop, maintain, and execute the master production schedule for a precision CNC job shop serving defense programs. This role translates customer orders and contract requirements into an optimized, achievable shop schedule while balancing capacity, materials, outside processes, and compliance demands.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, industrial engineering, operations management, business, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ production planning/scheduling experience in machining, manufacturing, aerospace, or defense environments.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems (JobBOSS preferred; Epicor, SAP, IQMS or similar acceptable).
• Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, capacity planning, routing, and lead times.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and scheduling tools; familiarity with finite capacity planning.
• Familiarity with AS9100, ITAR, DFARS, and other defense industry quality/compliance requirements preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience building dashboards, reporting tools, or data models.
• U.S. Person status may be required for ITAR/export-controlled work.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains the master production schedule for CNC milling, turning, and related operations.
• Translates orders and delivery schedules into work orders within the ERP/MRP system.
• Optimizes ERP data to improve schedule accuracy and leads scheduling improvements.
• Monitors WIP and schedule adherence; resolves delays and bottlenecks.
• Coordinates with procurement on materials, tooling, and outside processing.
• Coordinates with engineering and quality for inspections and process qualifications.
• Communicates schedule status and risks to stakeholders with clear, actionable updates.
• Analyzes capacity data to inform overtime or capital investment decisions.
• Maintains traceability and documentation per defense programs.
• Supports continuous improvement initiatives in scheduling accuracy.
