Job summary

Cleary Gottlieb is seeking a Client Account Specialist to own the billing and collections strategy for assigned partners or offices. The role emphasizes timely invoicing, client compliance, and collaboration with Finance teams to improve efficiency.

Reporting to the Client Account Manager, you will handle AR and billing inquiries, ensuring accuracy and prompt payment. The position offers direct partner exposure, a clear growth path in client accounts, and a strong emphasis on attention to detail

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• 2+ years of relevant billing and client relationship experience at a professional services firm or law firm is required; experience supporting partners or senior stakeholders directly is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with Excel and Word, with the ability to produce polished, partner-ready materials.
• Excellent writing, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends to meet deadlines.
• Eager to learn and quickly grasp new billing systems and client preferences.
• A collegial, dependable team player who builds trust with partners and clients.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive the billing and collection process to ensure accurate and timely invoicing and payment of clients.
• Monitor aging AR reports and ensure invoices are paid on time; direct teams to follow up on underpayments.
• Update key finance reports daily for timely, high-quality reporting.
• Develop understanding of complex billing processes and ensure timely, accurate billing.
• Follow up with partners and escalate issues to the Client Account Manager.
• Respond to billing and AR inquiries with accurate bills and narratives.
• Interpret and influence partner billing approaches based on engagement letters and guidelines.
• Collaborate with Pricing Operations and ebilling to meet client submission requirements.
• Lead regular UBT/AR meetings with partners as primary billing contact.
• Monitor bill processing status and perform necessary follow up.
• Ensure successful submission of E-Billing through vendor channels.
• Support Client Account Managers with day-to-day operations and special projects.
