Job summary

The City of Fairburn is seeking a Finance Director to serve as its CFO and a key member of the executive leadership team. You will provide financial strategy, transparency, and accountability while guiding budgeting, debt management, audits, and procurement across the City’s Finance Department.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in government finance, 3–5 years in leadership, and a BA in a related field; a MS/CPA and GFO certification within 2 years are highly preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration or related field.
• Eight years of government accounting and municipal finance experience.
• 3–5 years in supervisory or director-level leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide GAAP-compliant financial leadership and oversight.
• Oversee budgeting, long-range planning, debt management and procurement.
• Lead ERP implementation and collaboration with City Administrator, Mayor and Council.
