Job summary

The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation seeks a Chief Financial Officer to lead all financial functions, including accounting, budgeting, planning, grants administration, and risk management. The CFO will partner with the CEO and cabinet to advance the Foundation's mission and strategic initiatives.

Based in Kansas City, MO, the Foundation emphasizes equity, impact, and strong governance while supporting education, entrepreneurship, and community advancement. Some travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business or related field; CPA preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience; 5+ years in senior leadership (CFO/VP Finance) in complex organizations.
• Experience in nonprofit/philanthropy and IRS 501(c)(3) considerations is valued.

Responsibilities

• Oversee annual and long-term budgeting and stewardship aligned with strategic plan.
• Provide strategic financial leadership, manage accounting, budgeting, forecasting, audits, tax filings, payroll, and risk management.
• Lead grants administration oversight and compliance for timely grant distribution.
• Oversee sourcing and vendor management to align partnerships with mission and needs.
