Job summary

The Horizon Texas Conference invites applications for the Chief Financial Officer, a senior leadership appointment guiding strategic financial leadership, budgeting, audits, and benefits programs for clergy and lay employees.

With an operating budget around $14.8M and total net assets of $116.9M, the CFO will oversee GAAP-based accounting, treasury, internal controls, and quarterly reporting, while working hybrid- in the Dallas–Fort Worth area and traveling up to 30 days per year.

Responsibilities

• Serve as chief financial advisor to the Resident Bishop and the senior leadership team, translating financial information into clear strategic options and recommendations.
• Develop multi-year financial forecasts, scenario models, and reserve strategies that connect resources to the conference’s mission and priorities.
• Oversee accounting operations, treasury functions, internal controls, and GAAP/compliance for a nonprofit religious organization.
• Administer pension, health, and welfare benefits for clergy and lay employees in coordination with partners.
• Lead timely, accurate month-end and year-end reporting and audits, ensuring integrity and accountability.
