Job summary

Roses Discount Stor is seeking a seasoned Retail Buyer to manage relationships with vendors, shape merchandise strategy, and collaborate with planners to hit sales, margin, and inventory targets. You will travel to stores and trade shows to stay ahead of customer trends and pricing structures.

The role requires strong negotiation, communication, and teamwork skills, with at least five years in retail buying and proficiency in spreadsheets and data analysis tools.

Qualifications

• Five years or more of retail buying experience.
• Excellent negotiation and marketing skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication and organization skills.
• Motivated self-starter willing to learn all merchandising aspects.
• Able to work well in a team to achieve goals.
• Proficient in spreadsheet, word processing and data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Fosters relationships with vendors and negotiates deals.
• Defines the merchandise strategy (close-out vs non-close-out).
• Jointly develops merchandise plans to meet sales, turn and margin goals.
• Identifies opportunities to improve sales and margin with planners and analysts.
• Collaborates with Planning, Allocation, Distribution and Transportation teams to improve processes.
• Travels to stores to understand packaging, presentation, and customer trends.
• Attends trade shows and vendor locations to source deals and expand networks.
• Trains and mentors Assistant Buyers and/or Buyers as requested.
• Performs administrative tasks as needed.
• Achieves annual sales, margin, and inventory turn targets.
