Job summary

Wesco, a Fortune 500 distributor and logistics leader, is seeking a Buyer to place and authorize purchase orders, expedite deliveries, and keep accurate records. You will work within established guidelines to ensure on-time availability of materials and minimize working capital.

This role partners with suppliers and internal teams, reviewing reports, negotiating terms, and ensuring data integrity across EDI, ASR/VMI, and standard purchasing processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or related field.
• 1 year of purchasing experience within a supply chain environment.
• Knowledge of purchasing and inventory concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Knowledge of business performance measures.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Strong computer skills, including purchasing and inventory management systems, programs and reports.

Responsibilities

• Reviews daily purchasing reports and determines proper quantities to purchase and creates purchasing documents.
• Maintains inventory availability while minimizing working capital.
• Tactical stock replenishment, special orders, and drop ship buying with economical methods.
• Ensure accurate purchase order quantities, costs, notes and terms.
• Ensure EDI, ASR/VMI, and electronic orders reach suppliers.
• Communicate delivery information to affected departments.
• Review supplier shipping error notices and take action.
• Negotiate with suppliers to obtain returns on excess and inactive inventory.
• Assist managers in evaluating supplier performance on on-time delivery and related metrics.
