Job summary

Mark Rite Lines Equipment Company (MRL) in Billings, MT, is seeking a Buyer to secure materials and services for manufacturing, manage POs and supplier relations, and drive cost-effective sourcing. You will collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Inventory Control to ensure on-time delivery and quality, while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires strong negotiation, ERP/MRP experience, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Strong negotiation and vendor relationship management skills.
• Knowledge of purchasing principles, inventory control, and supply chain best practices.
• Ability to analyze pricing, supplier quotations, and procurement data.
• Excellent organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
• Experience working within ERP/MRP systems.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external suppliers.
• APICS, CPSM, CPM, or other purchasing certifications preferred.
• Experience in manufacturing, industrial equipment, or metal fabrication environments.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement principles.

Responsibilities

• Procure materials, equipment, services to support manufacturing operations.
• Create and manage purchase orders, blanket purchase agreements, and other replenishment methods.
• Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain best overall value.
• Prepare and analyze RFQs and recommend sourcing decisions.
• Monitor inventory levels and purchasing activities to balance material availability with inventory investment.
• Manage supplier relationships by monitoring quality, delivery, and service performance.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Production, Inventory Control, Customer Service, and suppliers to ensure timely procurement.
• Resolve PO discrepancies, supplier delivery issues, pricing concerns, and shortages.
• Source outside vendors and job shops for components and services as needed.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and ERP data.
