Austal USA, a shipbuilder based in Mobile, AL, is seeking a Buyer II to manage a busy buying desk supporting critical supply chain activities. You will collaborate with engineering, accounting and logistics to secure materials, monitor schedules, and resolve supplier issues, ensuring timely deliveries and compliance with contracting rules.

The role emphasizes strong time management, negotiation with suppliers, and experience with ERP/MRP systems in a defense environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; degree in Business, Supply Chain or Material Management preferred.
• 6 years related experience may be considered in lieu of degree; 2 years purchasing experience required.
• Excellent time management skills with ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet Explorer and Outlook; Access preferred.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and knowledge of purchasing processes in a defense/contracting environment.
• Familiarity with U.S. FAR/ITAR/ISO quality systems is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Follows up with requestors and end users regarding PO due dates and status.
• Maintains purchase requisition/MRP open orders, expediting as needed, and keeps IFS/ERP updated.
• Supports supplier invoice discrepancies, non-conforming material, and requisition issues.
• Collaborates with material planning, production planning and logistics to reduce inventory and schedule changes.
• Acts as main contact for internal departments and suppliers; participates in price book activities.
