Job summary

Duke University’s Department of Biomedical Engineering invites a Senior Business Manager to steer strategic direction, financial stewardship, and administrative leadership. You will partner with the Department Chair and Pratt School leadership to translate goals into multi-year plans while ensuring responsible stewardship of resources and high-impact operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business or related field is required; Master’s may substitute for experience.
• Minimum of eight years in progressively responsible administrative management experience.
• Experience in financial management, budgeting, personnel supervision, organizational leadership, and complex administrative operations.
• Equivalents of relevant education and experience will be considered.
• Familiarity with analytics and AI-assisted tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a strategic advisor to the Department Chair and leadership team.
• Translate departmental goals into operational, financial, staffing, and resource plans.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, reporting, and resource allocation.
• Direct administrative operations and improve workflows, systems, and service delivery.
• Oversee HR function, workforce planning, and employee relations initiatives.
• Coordinate space planning, facilities oversight, and institutional coordination.
