Overview
Strategic Business Intelligence Manager - Remote (Finance)
The Strategic Business Intelligence Manager is responsible for developing insights that add value to the SBI team, UNFI's key stakeholders, and the team\'s recurring/ad-hoc deliverables when determining strategic direction. This role monitors the macro-economic landscape, key grocery and retailer trends, analyzes customer and category sales data/insights, and conducts primary and secondary research to understand industry-wide strategic priorities. The goal is to craft disparate data into actionable insights for informed decision making.
Responsibilities
- Construct weekly intelligence briefs for internal and external stakeholders summarizing business, financial, or economic data.
- Create earnings briefs shared and reviewed with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead writing of select First Take earnings briefs on key retailers, suppliers, wholesalers, and other companies, including potential business recommendations.
- Ensure consistent and effective brand messaging through all communications, presentations, and updates via primary and secondary research.
- Analyze market strategy analyses with a focus on actionable outcomes.
- Support senior leaders with quarterly recaps feeding into weekly briefs and broader presentations for upper management.
- Develop reporting strategy, advance the use of data and visualization, and identify value-added enhancements or programs to distill, synthesize, and share intelligence.
- Collect business intelligence data from industry reports, public information, or purchased sources and maintain the integrity of reporting.
- Creat e and document disparate data pieces to uncover insights and craft concise stories linked to business priorities.
- Lead the development of dashboards and infographics so insights are easy to interpret and act on; maintain databases, dashboards, or methods.
Qualifications
Education/Certifications:
- Bachelor\'s degree in Market Research, Data Analytics, Marketing, Business Analytics or related field.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in consulting, consumer insights, competitive intelligence, or marketing research preferred.
- Experience with traditional market and consumer research sources (Nielsen, NPD, GNPD, Ipsos, Euromonitor, Mintel, etc.).
- Experience in developing information models and processes to communicate data.
- Thorough knowledge of industry trends, opportunities, products, and competitors.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong analytical/data interpretation skills and ability to translate data into actionable recommendations.
- Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Solid understanding of the macro-economic environment with ability to model and forecast as needed.
- Ability to gather information and identify relevant sources.
- Ability to present information internally to the SBI team and management/public groups as needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; strong Excel skills and experience with data visualization tools.
- Ability to incorporate feedback into all deliverables/projects.
Work Environment
- Remote role. Associates may work from home but may be required to come to office locations for business reasons or as directed by their manager.
Travel
- Minor travel may be required to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for meetings or business reasons.
Physical Environment
- Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
- Ability to sit for long periods and use hands at a desk/computer.
- Regularly required to sit, use hands, reach, talk, and hear; may involve stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching.
