Job summary

City of Richmond, Department of Budget & Strategic Planning, is seeking a dynamic budget analyst to join a team focused on developing the City’s multi-billion dollar budget. You will analyze financial data, assist with policy analysis, and prepare forecasts and reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Ideal candidates will bring five years of related experience, strong Excel skills, and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, or field related to assignment.
Five years of journey-level professional experience in area related to assignment, such as management/policy/financial analysis.

Responsibilities

Analyze complex issues to facilitate and execute decision-making.
Review budget proposals and funding requests for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with laws and other regulations.
Assist in program evaluation and policy analysis related to city budgeting or policy matters.
Work with high volumes of data in Excel and other platforms.
Prepare financial forecasts, reports, and presentations related to the city’s budgets.
Coordinate tasks to prepare the department for budget proposals or adoption.
