Job summary

City of Dayton seeks a Business Manager to prepare and monitor the annual budget, oversee expenditures, and guide cost analysis for special projects.

The role involves supervising accounting staff, maintaining records, and delivering quality customer service to internal and external partners to support the city’s economic development across departments including Recreation, Economic Development, Central Services, and Public Works.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Business and Finance equivalency AND 6 years of experience in accounting, office management, business administration or a related field.
• Bachelor's degree in Business and Finance equivalency AND 4 years of experience in accounting, office management, business administration or a related field.
• Master's Degree in Public Administration or Business Administration may be substituted for one year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and monitor the annual budget and prevent budget overruns.
• Keep department personnel informed of available funds by maintaining records of expenditures and encumbrances.
• Supervise staff by assigning general accounting functions, report preparation and maintenance of accurate records.
• Demonstrate quality customer service to partners and internal/external customers to promote economic development for the City.

Education

Associate degree in Business and Finance equivalency

Bachelor's degree in Business and Finance equivalency

Master's Degree in Public Administration or Business Administration (substitution for one year experience)
