Job summary

Douglas County is seeking a Budget Strategist to lead budget development, forecasting, and strategic financial planning. You will work closely with the County Manager's office, elected officials, and departments to ensure budgets align with priority policies and long-term fiscal sustainability.

Responsibilities include analytical reviews of budget submissions, collaboration with the Finance Department, and presenting recommendations to executive leadership and the Board of County Commissioners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and six years of governmental budgeting or fiscal planning experience.
• Experience developing operating and capital budgets and long-range financial strategies.
• CPA preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead development and administration of annual operating, capital budgets and supplemental budgets.
• Analyze departmental budgets, staffing models, and resource requests to inform recommendations.
• Coordinate with Comptroller and Finance to align budgeting with reporting, debt management and capital planning.
• Monitor budget performance and recommend corrective actions for variances and risks.
• Prepare financial forecasts, funding strategies, and multi-year plans for executive review.
• Present budget documents and executive summaries to County leadership and boards.
