Job summary

Douglas County is seeking a Budget Strategist to lead budget development, fiscal planning, and resource allocation. You will provide executive-level recommendations to the County Manager and Board on complex fiscal matters, supporting strategic priorities and long-range financial sustainability.

The role requires coordinating with the Finance Department and elected officials to ensure budget transparency, accountability, and alignment with the County’s Strategic Plan.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Finance, Economics or closely related field and six (6) years of progressively responsible professional experience in governmental budgeting, strategic financial planning, fiscal policy, or public finance; OR equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, administration and oversight of operating and capital budgets.
• Collaborate with Comptroller/Finance to align budgeting with financial reporting and long-range planning.
• Monitor budget performance and advise on variances, risks, and corrective actions.
• Prepare executive summaries, reports, and public-facing budget documents.
