Job summary

Wayne County Government in Detroit is seeking a Fiscal Analyst to perform professional-level fiscal analysis, forecasting, feasibility studies, and research for long-range programs that impact multiple departments and budget-related systems.

You will review contracts, assist the Commission in evaluating budget requests, prepare budget changes during deliberations, and help prepare the annual appropriations ordinance and budget execution instructions, coordinating with management and budget staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting.
• Work experience in budget, finance or accounting.
• Personal computer literacy required; general computer literacy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and maintain a working knowledge of County departments as a basis for budget analysis.
• Review contracts and prepare fiscal analysis for review.
• Assist the Commission in evaluating departmental budget requests.
• Prepare document budget changes proposed by Commissioners during budget deliberations.
• Assist the Commission in preparing the annual appropriations ordinance and budget execution instructions.
• Interact with Management and Budget personnel to obtain projection criteria and assumptions.
• Prepare an overview of the budget submitted by the County Executive.
