Job summary

City of Dallas is seeking a Departmental Budget Analyst to assist in developing, preparing and administering the department budget with strong financial analysis and oversight. Qualifications

• Knowledge of automated accounting programs and spreadsheet use.
• Knowledge of financial, accounting, and budgeting principles.
• Ability to analyze complex policy, financial, and organizational issues.
• Knowledge of City policies and procedures.
• Ability to forecast, analyze budget, and make recommendations.
• Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Prepare annual operating budget including capital, grants, community development, or trusts; prepare budget documents reflecting expenditures and costs.
• Perform special projects and develop forecasting models, historical trend analysis, and other financial projections for management information.
• Prepare routine monthly, quarterly, and annual reports such as cost analysis and revenue status to aid decision making.
• Review budget data with council/department staff and ensure alignment with procedures, guidelines.
• Coordinate with departments, auditors, and service providers to resolve problems and reconcile submissions with approved budgets.
• Oversee financial system transactions: payments, cash deposits, receivables, payables, and general revenues; supervise related activities.
• Coordinate and review annual budget development and submissions with staff; ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Perform other work as needed.
