The City of Dallas is seeking a Departmental Budget Analyst to assist in developing, preparing and administering a departmental budget, providing financial analysis and monitoring to ensure effective oversight and management of funds.

You will perform financial research, analysis and evaluation to make recommendations on departmental budgeting, ensure accurate expenditures, and support capital, grants, and trust programs with sound planning.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, public administration, finance or business.
• Three years of experience in financial analysis, budget planning/monitoring or professional accounting.
• Knowledge of automated accounting programs and ability to use spreadsheets.
• Knowledge of financial, accounting, and budgeting principles.
• Ability to forecast financial requirements and analyze budget and make recommendations.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain working relationships.

Responsabilidades

• Assist in the annual operating budget prep including capital, grants, community development, or trusts; prepare budget documents reflecting expenditures and costs.
• Perform special projects and create forecasting models, trend analyses and financial projections for management insights.
• Prepare routine monthly, quarterly, and annual reports such as cost analysis, performance data, and budget status."
• Review and evaluate council agenda items for financial data; coordinate with staff for budget development and submissions; oversee capital, grant, and trust programs.
• Communicate with city departments, managers, auditors, and providers to exchange information and resolve issues; reconcile department submissions with approved budgets.
• Process financial system transactions and supervise cash, receivables, payables, and revenues; perform account reconciliation and grant reimbursements.
• Coordinate and review annual budget development with staff, ensuring technical accuracy and adherence to procedures.
• Perform any other work as needed.
