Job summary

NBCUniversal seeks an Enterprise Architect for Builder Enablement to bring clarity to a complex technology landscape and map how infrastructure, services, and patterns fit today and for the future.

As a founding member, you will partner with platform, infrastructure, and product teams to translate systems into diagrams and guidance, while mentoring engineers toward cohesive architecture.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience designing distributed systems and/or enterprise platforms.
• Hands-on experience building software/platform systems in production.
• Ability to translate complex landscapes into clear models and diagrams.
• Experience working across teams without direct authority.
• Strong communication skills for technical and executive audiences.
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, and GCP cloud patterns.
• Pragmatic, incremental approach with tradeoffs acknowledged.
• Track record of challenging assumptions constructively.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a clear view of enterprise infrastructure, services, and patterns.
• Crystallize architectural principles grounded in real-world practices.
• Identify gaps and align opportunities for simplification or new capabilities.
• Partner with platform, infrastructure, and product teams to ensure interoperability.
• Translate complex systems into diagrams, reference architectures, and guidance.
• Facilitate cross-team alignment and build consensus around direction.
• Identify high-value Builder Enablement investments like templates and tooling.
• Engage engineering efforts at key moments to provide architectural guidance.
• Advocate a systems mindset and diagnose tradeoffs.
• Mentor engineers and architects to improve architectural thinking.
