Job summary

Abnormal AI is seeking a Media Relations Manager to own media strategy across all PR programs, from proactively building tier-1 relationships to directing product launches and threat intelligence coverage.

This hands-on role requires forming direct relationships with AI, tech, business, and security media while personally handling outreach. You will work with executives to craft interview-ready messaging and coordinate with cross-functional teams for stories and opportunities.

Qualifications

• 4-7 years of experience in media relations or public relations with tier 1 tech or business outlets
• Proactive, relationship-driven media work
• Strong judgment on newsworthiness and public messaging under time pressure
• Excellent writing; comfortable drafting or editing press releases, Q&As, and bylines
• Comfortable working directly with senior executives, writing in their voice
• Ability to set strategy and operate autonomously with ownership
• Collaborative mindset to set direction for the team

Responsibilities

• Own media relations end to end across tier 1, security trades, and non-traditional media, setting strategy for the full program
• Build and maintain a structured view of key reporters and advance relationships over time
• Run day-to-day pitching, background briefings, trend pitches, and story planting with executives as sources
• Monitor media landscape and advise on reactive commentary opportunities
• Create tier 1 media Q&As and contribute to press releases and executive messaging
• Work with executives on interviews, shaping stories and voice for bylines
• Partner with Marketing to source storytelling opportunities
