Job summary

Mt. Olive Pickle Company, Inc. in Mount Olive, NC seeks a Director of Agricultural Procurement to lead strategy, execution, and continual improvement of the agricultural sourcing function.

This leader will manage cucumbers, peppers, carrots, okra, mushrooms, and other produce, building strong grower relationships and ensuring on-budget sourcing aligned with production plans. The role requires deep procurement acumen, cross-functional leadership, and expertise in agricultural markets and H-2A

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agribusiness, supply chain management, business, economics, or related field.
• Ten or more years of progressively responsible experience in agricultural procurement or related field.
• Demonstrated experience negotiating grower or commodity agreements and managing significant procurement budgets.
• Experience leading teams and influencing cross-functional partners at multiple levels.
• Working knowledge of fresh vegetable production, crop planning, and commodity markets.
• Practical knowledge of the H-2A program and its implications preferred.
• Experience in pickled/processed vegetables environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive agricultural sourcing strategy for key commodities.
• Lead crop planning to align contracted acres, yields, and delivery with forecasts.
• Own procurement budgets, cost forecasts, and purchase commitments; adjust as needed.
• Negotiate crop contracts and terms with growers, packers, processors, and suppliers.
• Build durable grower/supplier relationships through communication and reliability.
• Assess labor and compliance factors affecting pricing and sourcing decisions (H-2A).
• Analyze total delivered cost to support negotiations and recommendations.
• Lead and develop the agricultural procurement team, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement.
