Job summary

Pfeiffer University in North Carolina seeks an experienced, externally focused Vice President for Institutional Advancement to lead major gifts, annual giving, and donor engagement. You will cultivate prospects, manage a high-potential portfolio, and partner with the President, Cabinet, and Board to advance strategic priorities.

This leadership role oversees a growing advancement team, develops campaigns and timelines, and uses data to guide decisions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of advancement or development experience with meaningful leadership responsibility.
• Proven success cultivating, soliciting, and closing major gifts, including seven-figure gifts.
• Experience leading capital or comprehensive campaigns.
• Strong data, portfolio management, and donor analytics capabilities.
• Ability to build fundraising programs, systems, teams, and accountability structures.
• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced credentials valued.

Responsibilities

• Lead a donor-centered advancement program spanning major gifts, annual giving, and alumni engagement.
• Maintain an active portfolio of high-potential donors and prospects; qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward.
• Partner with the President on principal gift strategy, donor visits, and campaign advancement.
• Build a strategic pipeline of gifts to increase unrestricted support and grow endowment.
• Develop compelling cases for support and naming opportunities.
• Communicate progress, opportunities, and risks to the President, Cabinet, and Board.
