Job summary

Charles Schwab is seeking an experienced accounting professional to manage the ongoing accounting for a large securities and derivatives portfolio. The role involves journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, monthly close, and regulatory reporting across multiple entities, with collaboration across treasury and IT teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.
• CPA certification is preferred but not mandatory.
• Minimum 5+ years GAAP accounting or finance experience, with securities accounting experience highly preferred.
• Experience in financial services, treasury, and high-volume transactions is a plus.
• Strong Excel and ERP familiarity; data tools like Alteryx/SQL are advantageous.
• Able to communicate complex information clearly and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting, journal entries, and reconciliations for investment and derivatives portfolios across entities.
• Prepare variance analysis on net interest revenue and assist monthly forecasts.
• Create monthly close and regulatory reporting schedules.
• Document cash flow and fair value/portfolio hedging relationships per policy.
• Collaborate with treasury and IT to implement system enhancements and test functionality.
• Maintain SOX controls and support internal audits.
• Assist external auditors and regulatory reporting teams with investments data.
• Support Accounting Policy with policy and practice discussions.
• Handle ad hoc accounting initiatives as needed.
