Job summary

The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services seeks an Accounting Manager / Deputy Chief Financial Officer to direct all finance and accounting functions for a large state agency located in the State Office.

This role formulates fiscal policies, aligns procedures with laws and GASB, and prepares and administers agency budgets in partnership with the executive team. It also involves resolving inquiries from business partners, federal and state agencies, and internal staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 7–8 years of experience.
• Experience with government accounting standards (GASB) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accounting Manager responsible for directing and managing all finance and accounting functions for a large, complex agency.
• Formulating fiscal policies and operating procedures to conform with laws, rules and GASB.
• Prepare and administer program or agency budgets in cooperation with agency executive team.
• Receive and resolve questions and problems presented by business partners, Federal government agencies, local governments, State agencies, executive staff, and other employees.
