Job summary

The Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce is seeking an Accounting Director to lead our accounting operations in Denver, Colorado. This senior role oversees financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting and audits to support strategic initiatives and organizational growth.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred, with 8+ years of accounting experience and 5+ years in leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• CPA preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 5+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting and internal controls.
• Experience leading month-end and year-end close processes.
• Expertise in budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Chamber's monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting and close processes.
• Strengthen accounting operations, internal controls and financial governance.
• Partner on budgeting, forecasting, executive reporting and cash management.
• Lead external audits, regulatory compliance and financial risk management.
• Drive continuous improvement of accounting systems, reporting processes and ERP initiatives.
• Coach and develop the Accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous learning.
• Serve as a trusted financial advisor by partnering with leaders on grants, payroll, commissions, investments and strategic initiatives.
