Strategic Account Executive (New York City & Surrounding Markets)

About the Role

We are seeking a Strategic Account Executive (SAE) to join our growing sales team and play a key role in our enterprise Key Account Management (KAM) strategy. Reporting to the Head of Sales, the SAE will be responsible for growing and deepening relationships with strategic clients in the New York City region and expanding our impact within their real estate portfolios.

This role is centered on building long-term, strategic partnerships by aligning Green Standards’ value proposition with organizations' goals to maximize environmental and community impact through responsible workplace transitions. The ideal candidate is a seasoned enterprise sales professional with a proven ability to manage complex sales cycles, navigate matrixed organizations, and deliver consultative, value-driven solutions.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead and expand a portfolio of strategic enterprise accounts, drive revenue growth, enhance client retention, and deliver meaningful impact through responsible workplace decommissioning practices.
  2. Lead regional business development efforts to secure new clients and expand our footprint with existing accounts.
  3. Develop comprehensive global account strategies and work closely with regional teams to ensure consistent execution and scalable success across client projects.
  4. Act as a trusted advisor to corporate real estate, facilities, sustainability, and workplace teams within Fortune 500 organizations.
  5. Develop account plans, conduct stakeholder mapping, and lead strategic conversations to uncover needs and drive opportunities.
  6. Collaborate with our operations and impact teams to craft compelling proposals and ensure seamless project delivery.
  7. Represent Green Standards at industry events and client meetings across NYC and the surrounding region (25-40% travel).
  8. Maintain rigorous CRM hygiene and contribute to quarterly business reviews and performance reporting.

Experience & Skills

  1. 5+ years of experience in B2B enterprise sales or strategic account management.
  2. Proven success in corporate real estate, sustainability consulting, workplace strategy, or related sectors.
  3. Track record of managing complex sales cycles with multiple stakeholders and high-value outcomes.
  4. Strong understanding of sustainability and corporate real estate trends, metrics, and the evolving needs of large organizations.
  5. Excellent relationship builder with strong communication, negotiation, and strategic thinking skills.
  6. Skilled presenter with the ability to engage and influence audiences in both large-scale forums and intimate stakeholder meetings.
  7. Self-motivated, collaborative, and excited to contribute to a mission-driven company.

Preferred Experience

  1. Experience in or familiarity with the New York City commercial real estate market.
  2. Involvement in industry associations such as CoreNet, IFMA, USGBC; etc.
  3. Background in services such as LEED, WELL, circular economy, or workplace optimization.
