Join SMUD as a Strategic Account Advisor, supporting key accounts in the manufacturing and hospitality sectors. This role involves building customer relationships while enhancing sustainability initiatives in line with SMUD's 2030 Clean Energy Vision. Ideal candidates will have substantial experience in account management, with a focus on customer satisfaction and loyalty.
This posting intends to fill three (3) full-time positions. An eligibility list will also be established to fill roles over the next two (2) years, including regular, full-time, or limited-term positions.
The successful candidates will support our Key Accounts by building and managing relationships within one of the following areas:
Understanding each customer’s unique business and organizational model is essential for delivering high-value, personalized programs, services, and carbon reduction initiatives. The role requires an ability to understand mechanical systems, grid infrastructure, and emerging technologies.

Provide expertise, analysis, organization, and coordination to create customer value through relationship management, leveraging knowledge of the customer and market to foster growth, satisfaction, and loyalty via the account planning cycle.
Positions range from entry-level to senior, with responsibilities increasing with experience:
The core functions include serving as a technical expert, establishing and maintaining relationships, coordinating services, resolving policy and service issues, and supporting community involvement. Senior-level staff lead complex customer interactions, develop strategic solutions, and mentor lower-level team members.
At least five (5+) years of responsible customer account management or energy advisory experience.
Customer account management principles, relationship development, sales, negotiation, financial evaluation, performance reporting, and applicable policies and systems.
Building customer relationships, identifying requirements, developing solutions, conducting presentations, and researching energy efficiency methods.
Ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodations.
