Job description

Your primary role will be to facilitate student learning, helping our students achieve their program and course objectives while guiding them as they shape their future in the industry. Our instructors organize all aspects of the classroom function, including cleanliness, safety, demonstration materials, and lecture. You will administer lessons following a pre-developed lesson plan, leading your students through the practical, hands-on application of the lessons you teach.

Role Responsibilities:

  • You will maintain accurate record keeping as it applies to student attendance and their grades, and advise students on attendance, grades, and discipline issues as necessary.
  • Our instructors are expected to create and maintain a safe environment at all times.
  • You will manage all tools assigned to the classroom, issuing, inspecting, repairing, and teaching proper handling of those tools.
  • As a highly visible representative of the school, you will communicate, support, and enforce school policies and procedures at all times.
  • During periods of testing, you will ensure an ethical and fair testing environment.
  • Instructors are responsible for maintaining classroom equipment through evaluation, inspection, parts ordering, and repair.
  • You will evaluate the curriculum to ensure it remains relevant.
  • You will conform to prescribed methods of record keeping, as directed by supervisory staff.
  • It is important to communicate promptly regarding supplies, tools, or other essentials needed for students in the classroom.
  • You are expected to maintain a working field knowledge through continuing education and demonstrate ongoing professional development of your technical expertise.
  • Attendance at semi-annual graduation ceremonies is mandatory for our instructors.

Additional Admin Duties:

  • You will work as part of the team to develop and maintain the Instructor Training and Development program.
  • You will implement the program and maintain all records necessary to demonstrate successful implementation.
  • You will monitor new instructors in training and confer regularly with the training instructor regarding their progress.
  • You will provide mentorship, leadership, and feedback for new instructors, accepting responsibility for their successful classroom preparation.
  • You will report all information regarding a new instructor to the Lead Instructor/Director of Training and assist in the selection of new instructors for hiring.

Maintenance of Appropriate Learning Environment:

  • You will conduct monthly classroom and laboratory inspections, noting and addressing any physical facility maintenance needs.
  • You will monitor working conditions of training aids and report non-working equipment to the Lead Instructor/Director of Training.
  • You will assist classroom instructors in the repair and maintenance of training aids as necessary.
  • You will facilitate maintenance for campus facilities, using available resources.
  • You may be asked to repair tools/equipment not directly associated with a particular class.

Required Knowledge, Education and Experience:

The successful applicant must have a High School Diploma or GED, and the minimum required years of field experience, dependent upon the region.

Physical Environment:

  • The successful applicant may stand for long periods of time.
  • You will be required to use calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment as needed.
  • Please be aware that stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required.
  • Your work may be completed in classroom or shop environments, with exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and risk of electrical shock.
  • You may be required to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
