Qualifications

  • Valid Florida Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement.
  • No loss of driving privileges due to revocation, suspension, or denial of license within the past 24 months.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain the stormwater conveyance system, including catch basins and swales.
  • Assist in debris removal from water bodies and drainage basins.
  • Restore road surfaces by ensuring proper base compaction and asphalt application.
  • Operate trucks and construction equipment for maintenance projects.
  • Routine equipment inspections for safe operation.
  • Determine materials required and coordinate delivery.
  • Install street barricades and traffic control per MOT standards.
  • Maintain records and reports using computerized tracking systems.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and SOPs.
  • Respond to emergency call-ins, including hurricanes.

Stormwater Technician I

Salary Range: $19.47 - $31.16 per hour

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

The Town of Lake Park is seeking a Stormwater Technician I to join our Public Works Department - Stormwater Division. Under the supervision of the Stormwater Infrastructure Foreman, the Stormwater Technician I performs semi-skilled work on installing, operating, and maintaining the Town's stormwater systems. This position assists in ensuring proper drainage and regulatory compliance while following safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Repair and maintain the Town's stormwater conveyance system, including catch basins, swales, and other Stormwater-related components.
  • Assist in debris removal from water bodies and drainage basins.
  • Restore road surfaces by ensuring proper base compaction and asphalt application.
  • Operate trucks and construction equipment for maintenance projects
  • Routine equipment inspections for safe operation.
  • Determine materials required for job completion and coordinate delivery.
  • Install street barricades and traffic control measures following MOT standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports using computerized tracking systems.
  • Operate and maintain hand and power tools safely.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Respond to emergency call-ins, including hurricanes and other critical events.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in Stormwater maintenance or Public Works.
  • Valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brakes endorsement.
  • No loss of driving privileges due to revocation, suspension, or denial of license within the past 24 months.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of occupational safety rules and practices.
  • Ability to operate and maintain various stormwater-related equipment and tools.
  • Competence in reading and interpreting simple plans and sketches.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
Physical Requirements
  • Heavy work requiring exertion of up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly.
  • Physical abilities required include climbing, crouching, grasping, handling, hearing, lifting, pulling, pushing, standing, stooping, talking, and walking.
Work Environment
  • Work performed in an environment with heavy equipment and machinery that could result in potential exposure to adverse conditions, including weather extremes and hazardous materials.
  • Compliance with all Town safety regulations is required.
  • Exposure to adverse weather conditions, heavy equipment, noise, and hazardous materials.
