Job Location: Leon A Wurl Service Center - Erie, CO

Position Type: Full Time

Salary Range: $22.69 - $28.18 Hourly

Job Category: Utilities

Work Hours: Typical working hours are 7:00AM - 3:30PM

Work Location: Leon A Wurl Service Center (1150 Bonnell Ave, Erie, CO)

On-Call: The person in this position must be able to work an on-call rotating schedule as assigned and as needed for snow-related/other emergencies. This position is 100% in-person and not eligible for remote work.

Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities vary by level of the position. Below is a general overview of responsibilities which may be tailored to the specific level:

  • Aid in a variety of routine to complex maintenance and construction activities including storm sewer jetting, manhole maintenance and inspection, storm water system maintenance, CCTV inspections, ditch maintenance and repair, detention pond maintenance and repair, and right of way maintenance
  • Aid in installation and maintenance of specialized equipment related to storm operations and collection; perform light mechanical repair and maintenance
  • Aid in operation of heavy and light duty equipment to perform related maintenance and construction assignments
  • Aid in heavy laboring activities using hand tools, light power equipment, string trimmers, landscaping tools and heavy construction equipment
  • Aids in inspections and data collection for storm installations and works with Town inspectors as needed
  • Aid in snow removal activities as assigned
  • Aids in data entry of maintenance logs and information in spreadsheets and related software
  • Respond to customers and contractors' inquiries and complaints; help prepare necessary records and reports
  • Maintain a safe working environment, perform PPE-related safety checks, and assist in shop organization
  • Assist in Town events preparation, operation and breakdown
Qualifications

Education — High School diploma or GED required (for Stormwater Maintenance Technician); other education details listed per role.

Experience — For Stormwater Maintenance Technician: No experience required; for Stormwater Maintenance Operator I: one (1) year of laboring, maintenance, equipment operations or related experience preferred.

Required Certifications/Licenses

  • Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record
  • Colorado Commercial Driver's License Class B - required within one (1) year

Preferred Certifications/Licenses

  • Class 1 Wastewater Collection System Operator from the Colorado Operator Certification Program (preferred to obtain but required to advance)
  • Flagger Certification (preferred to obtain but required to advance)

Additional Certification/Requirements by Level

  • Stormwater Maintenance Technician: additional specs include education and driving requirements as listed above
  • Stormwater Maintenance Operator I: CDL Class B within one year; Confined Space Certification within one year; Flagger Certification; Class 1 Wastewater Certification; and related program requirements
