Job summary

Apex Companies is hiring an Environmental Technician 2 in California to lead field inspections, monitor stormwater activities, and support data gathering for projects that protect the environment. Qualifications

• High school diploma required; college coursework or degree preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and typing/data entry.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate project needs to clients.
• Valid California Driver's License with clean driving record.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Prior SWPPP inspection experience preferred.
• Certifications include QSP/QSD/QISP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drive to and from job sites and conduct inspections as assigned.
• Monitor weather forecasts for rain events.
• Respond to emails from contractors in a timely manner.
• Prepare annual and quarterly reports for each job.
• Store reports, photos, and data on the company server.
• Sample storm water discharge during qualifying events.
• Prepare inspection and sampling reports and related documents.
• Conduct water quality monitoring, sampling, and analysis on job sites.
• Interact with clients.
• Complete foundational and site-specific training for QSP Delegate Trainees; pursue CISEC and QSP certifications as required.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

• Drive to and from each job site in a route daily and conduct weekly and rain-event inspections, or other required inspections, as assigned. Drive company car or personal car.
• Monitor weather forecasts daily in preparation for rain events.
• Answer emails from contractors/co-workers in a timely manner.
• Prepare annual reports for jobs when they are complete. Update annual report data quarterly for each job.
• Store reports, photos, and rain data in a neat manner for each job on the company’s shared server.
• Sample storm water discharge for qualifying rain events on job sites.
• Prepare inspection reports, sampling reports, and misc. reports
• Conduct water quality monitoring, sampling, and analysis on job sites.
• Interact with clients.
• Complete foundational training and site specific training as outlined for QSP Delegate Trainees by the California Stormwater Quality Association.
• Attend classes and trainings to obtain required certifications. Take necessary steps to gain CISEC and QSP certifications at the 2-year requirement, or prior based on previous experience as determined by authorized organization at time of hire.
• Represent TCG in a positive and professional manner.
• Regular, predictable, attendance, both onsite and in the field.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications And Requirements

• High school diploma required; college coursework or degree preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and typing/data entry. Experience with Asana or similar project management software is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate project needs and updates to clients.
• Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record and the ability to meet company insurance requirements.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Prior SWPPP inspection experience preferred.
• Preferred certifications include: Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP) Qualified SWPPP Developer (QSD) Qualified Industrial Storm Water Practitioner (QISP)

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds in order to conduct water sampling.
• Involves extensive walking (1/2 mile or more) on uneven surfaces at construction sites; standing for long periods of time; sitting for extended periods of time while driving to and from job locations as required by jobs.
• Job is performed indoor (office) and outdoors (construction sites) and is subject to inclement weather.
• Equipment: pH pen, turbidimeter, DO meter, camera; sampling pole
