AQUALIS is seeking a Stormwater Inspector Team Lead in New Jersey to conduct inspections of stormwater systems and infrastructure, ensuring regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship for our customers. You will report to the Business Development Manager, New Jersey Office, perform field inspections, document conditions, and prepare reports with Compliance team support.

The role requires attention to detail, safety commitment, and the ability to work independently in varying weather

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience equivalent.
  • 3-5 years in environmental technology or stormwater management.
  • Report writing and review experience required.
  • Technical plan review and construction plan reading preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Certification preferred.
  • Stormwater inspection certifications or related environmental certifications preferred.
  • Self-motivated, energetic team player with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop long-term plans.

Job description

The Stormwater Inspector Team Lead is responsible for conducting inspections of stormwater management systems and associated infrastructure to ensure regulatory compliance, system functionality, and environmental stewardship for AQUALIS customers. This position serves as a frontline representative of AQUALIS and plays a critical role in helping clients maintain compliance with federal, state, and local stormwater regulations while protecting water quality. The Stormwater Inspector Lead reports to the Business Development Manager, New Jersey Office and performs field inspections, documents site conditions, identifies maintenance and repair needs, prepares reports with the support of the AQUALIS Compliance team, and communicates findings to clients and internal stakeholders. This role requires a strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, and ability to work independently in various weather and field conditions as well as significant travel.

  • Remove lids, grates, and access covers as necessary to perform thorough inspections.
  • Evaluate system conditions, identify deficiencies, and document maintenance and repair requirements.
  • Assess sediment accumulation, structural integrity, erosion, vegetation conditions, and overall functionality of stormwater assets.
  • Verify compliance with stormwater permits and local regulatory requirements.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
  • Collect accurate field data using company software, tablets, mobile applications, and GPS-enabled devices.
  • Capture detailed photographs and field notes documenting asset conditions.
  • Prepare inspection reports, maintenance recommendations, and corrective action documentation.
  • Ensure all reports are completed accurately and submitted within required timeframes.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections and client interactions.
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all AQUALIS safety policies, procedures, and training requirements.
  • Conduct field work in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Identify and communicate potential safety hazards encountered during inspections.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Client Service
  • Represent AQUALIS professionally at client sites.
  • Communicate inspection findings and observations to project managers and clients as required.
  • Support client retention by delivering exceptional service and responsiveness.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for additional maintenance, repair, engineering, or compliance services.
Operational Support
  • Coordinate with maintenance, repair, engineering, and project management teams regarding identified deficiencies.
  • Assist with asset inventory verification and data collection projects.
  • Support emergency response activities and special projects as assigned.
  • Travel within assigned territory to perform inspections and field assessments.
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience equivalent.
