Job summary

Town of Carolina Beach seeks a Stormwater Maintenance Worker to perform semi-skilled labor on drainage systems and stormwater facilities. Duties include cleaning catch basins, patching pavement, and operating light equipment under supervision.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of hand and power equipment experience; a valid NC CDL-B or ability to obtain within 6 months; immunizations and NIMS coursework. This is a safety-sensitive, outdoor role with benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalency.
• Experience operating hand and power equipment used in culverts, ditches, and stormwater infrastructures.
• Valid North Carolina CDL-B driver’s license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Waste Water Collection – Grade 1 Certification or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• Immunization for Blood Borne Pathogens.
• Must complete NIMS coursework within one year.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction, maintenance, and repair of drainage systems and facilities.
• Clean catch basins, ditches, and stormwater infrastructure.
• Operate light and heavy equipment as required (loaders, dump trucks, mowers).
• Work under supervision of Stormwater Maintenance Crew Leader.
• Adhere to safety and environmental requirements.
