Fairfax County DPWES is seeking a Project Manager (Construction / Maintenance) to oversee planning, scheduling and budgeting for stormwater dam safety capital projects. You will manage designers, contractors, and ensure work aligns with county standards.

The role emphasizes leadership, communication and compliance with purchasing and contract processes, with potential emergency response responsibilities as part of the team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Environmental or Life Sciences, Construction Management, Business Administration, Facilities Management or related field; plus four years of progressively responsible experience in supervision or management of construction or maintenance projects, including at least two years of contract administration.

Responsibilities

• Plan, monitor, schedule, and manage design consultants and construction contractors for stormwater facilities projects.
• Draft corrective work orders and define scopes of service with internal staff or external consultants.
• Provide quality control to ensure construction meets specifications and goals.
• Maintain clear communication with the public and involved stakeholders throughout projects.
• Negotiate and secure construction contracts bid/task orders per Fairfax County procedures.
• Perform contract administration from inception through warranty period.
• Verify invoices and maintain complete project documentation.
