Job summary

The City of Fort Worth is seeking an Equipment Operator for the Stormwater Operations within the Transportation and Public Works Department. You will operate a wide range of heavy equipment and tools to maintain channels, ditches, and stormwater infrastructure.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, one year of heavy equipment or construction experience, and a Class A CDL with no air brake restrictions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED and one year of experience in operation of heavy equipment or construction experience.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License.
  • Possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License Class “A” at the time of hire based on assignment with no air brake restrictions.
  • Must possess a Class A Driver’s License and ability to obtain a Tank Endorsement within six months of hire; operation of hydro-mulch vehicle, water truck, and/or Vactor as required.

Responsibilities

  • Operates a variety of motorized equipment including front-end loaders, backhoes, brush trucks, dump trucks, hydro-mulch truck, water truck, street sweepers, cranes, trenchers, bucket trucks, and other related equipment.
  • Operates various hand tools.
  • Performs skilled and semi-skilled tasks such as cutting branches, shoveling asphalt and mowing grass.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and pre/post trip inspections; completes daily operation reports and timesheets.
  • Meets with crew leaders to determine job methods and best use of motorized equipment.
  • Adheres to safety standards; assists with traffic cones and barriers.
  • Loads and unloads heavy materials and equipment; performs other duties as required.
  • Adheres to work schedule per department and City policies.
